The team of journalists work remotely but hold regular face-to-face meetings in London.

The role:

The Deputy News Editor will run the day to day activities of their busy newsdesk, ensuring they deliver accurate, balanced, pertinent and concise articles to deadline for their flagship website and its three sister sites. Reporting to, and working closely with the News Editor, you will help plan the deployment of our team of reporters and desk editors week to week, and will be responsible for ensuring news articles are edited to the standard customers expect for paywall protected, high value content. You will also pitch in with some news stories of their own. You will need to attend conferences and other events, often abroad, and to moderate some of their conference sessions and webinars.

The candidate:

This company are looking for an experienced journalist with excellent editing and leadership skills. Confidence in public speaking and foreign language skills would be advantages.

If you have an understanding of their niche industry then this would be an advantage, it is not essential as the application of sound editing and news writing principles and the ability to rapidly learn about their customers’ needs is more important in their eyes.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

· Editing news articles

· Overseeing the production of weekly and fortnightly news bulletins

· Conferring with desk editors on their planned stories for the week ahead

· Deputising for the News Editor in their absence

· Contributing to wider, cross-departmental company projects and discussions

· Writing some news and features as needs dictate and time allows
