This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic reporter to join a growing company with an editorial team of more than 15 in the UK and the US - they cover Chemicals Management across the globe for busy business people. This is a role that is permanent and full time but terms to be agreed in a consultancy/freelance contract. Working hours 35 hours per week (9-5 Mon-Fri). You will need to be within one hour of Brussels or living in Brussels - this is essential.

The EMEA reporter will join a busy, real-time newsdesk, ensuring they deliver accurate, balanced, well written articles to deadline for their flagship website and its sister websites.
Maintaining the company's reputation for informative, pertinent, accurate and timely content, the successful candidate will frequently attend press conferences, workshops and other events in Brussels and elsewhere.
News writing is the primary task but they will also write occasional features and suggest ideas and contacts to the broader journalist team and other parts of the company, such as our Events team.
They are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated recent journalism or law graduate, or journalist/writer with a year or two's experience writing for a business readership (it must be B2B - essential). You should have excellent English language writing skills and the ability and drive to to rapidly learn about the complex agenda of chemicals management and regulation, and the business and scientific debates that surround it. You should be willing to speak in public as and when required. While not essential language skills, especially French and German, would be an advantage.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- In consultation with the EMEA desk editor, researching and writing news and features on policy and business developments.
- Attending press conferences and other events in Brussels on a regular basis, and events elsewhere as required – including the company's own conferences.
- Plugging into the Brussels policy/lobbying scene and establish excellent contacts in key organisations
- Deputising for EMEA desk editor when needed
- Building an understanding of our customers needs, and helping the company gather and interpret customer insight.
Editorial team members work full time from home but they hold regular face-to-face meetings in London and you will travel over up to around 3/4 times a year.
