My client is an online publisher who deliver news to a niche audience and they are going through a period of rapid growth. They are looking for a global news editor to work with their team of home-based journalists to provide real-time news across their flagship website and their three other specialist websites.

They are an influential, online, subscription information and events business and they provide essential services to people around the world who operate in their niche industry. It is highly regarded among regulators, authorities, industry and NGOs.

The global news editor will work with our six desk editors who cover the Europe, North America, Asia, Risk Assessment, Biocides and Risk Management areas across the websites.

A key responsibility will be to ensure the news content is of a high quality as well as relevant, accurate, independent, timely and engaging. With a 15-strong editorial team, the news editor needs to ensure stories are tailored to meet the needs of the different readers.

The successful candidate will also liaise with their information and subbing desks.

The editorial team is home-based and located around the world, so excellent organisational and communication skills are essential. Also important are a strong news sense and proven ability to manage editorial news content. They are looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience as an editor.

The position also includes regular travel to meetings and events around the world, and requires the ability to chair and speak at conferences and webinars.

The Global News Editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief. It is home-based and ideally they would like the successful applicant to live in or near London but they do have an office in the SW and Midlands (apply for more info) and provided you are able to still travel to events then this would be acceptable too. Salary is £40k to £50k DOE.
